Formycon is an international leading, independent developer of high-quality biopharmaceutical medicines, especially biosimilars. With an experienced team comprised of around 200 highly skilled professionals, the company is able to span the entire value chain of biosimilar drug development, from market analysis and target definition by protein analytics, to the development of production processes, to clinical trials and the regulatory approval process.

Our focus is on treatments in ophthalmology and immunology as well as for other key chronic diseases. Formycon is making a major contribution towards providing as many patients as possible with access to vital and affordable medicines.

To support our team in Martinsried near Munich, we are looking for suitable candidates for this full-time and permanent position, to begin work as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a Director (gn) Portfolio Management, Market Analysis & Strategic Projects with deep expertise in the global biosimilars market to drive strategic decision‑making at company level. Reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer (CBO), this role acts as a key strategic partner to the Board and senior leadership, combining portfolio ownership, market intelligence, business case development, and cross‑functional project leadership. Key tasks include:

Portfolio Management 

  • Identification of new portfolio candidates for our development pipeline based on a variety of criteria including commercial attractiveness in our target markets, therapeutic area, competitive environment, development requirements
  • Development of portfolio prioritization frameworks aligned with strategic, financial, and market‑driven objectives
  • Continuous evaluation of portfolio performance, value creation, and risk to optimize the company’s product and project portfolio
  • Preparation of strategic recommendations for the Board and Executive Management

Market Analysis

  • In‑depth analysis of the global and regional biosimilars market, including competitive landscapes, pricing dynamics, regulatory trends, and access considerations
  • Identification and evaluation of new business opportunities, lifecycle strategies, and partnerships
  • Active leverage of an established industry network within the biosimilars ecosystem (e.g. commercial partners, CMOs, regulators, advisors)
  • Application of AI‑based tools and advanced analytics for market analysis, forecasting, scenario simulation, and decision support

Business Case & Financial Modeling

  • Lead development of robust business cases, including valuation, scenario modeling, sensitivity analyses, and risk assessments
  • Close collaboration with Finance to ensure consistency with financial planning and corporate targets
  • Translation of complex analyses into clear, management‑ready insights

Strategic Projects & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Structured management of strategic, cross‑functional projects, ensuring alignment, transparency, and execution discipline
  • Support process improvements in the commercial functions Supply Chain, Procurement, Licensing and Finance
  • Identification of opportunities to further integrate AI into strategic and portfolio‑related processes

Executive & Board Support

  • Direct support of the CBO and the Board in strategic planning, portfolio decisions, and ad‑hoc analysis

Your qualifications

  • Several years of senior experience in portfolio management, strategy, market analysis, or corporate development, preferably within biosimilars and generics
  • Demonstrated market‑specific knowledge and network in biosimilars
  • Proven track record in building and defending business cases for investment and strategic decisions
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to operate confidently across many functions in a mid‑sized organization
  • High degree of ownership and self‑responsibility, paired with strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of structuring and presenting complex topics to senior stakeholders
  • Practical experience in using AI, advanced analytics, and digital tools for strategic analysis and decision support
  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
  • Fluency in English (German or additional languages are an advantage)
