Formycon is making a major contribution towards providing as many patients as possible with access to vital and affordable medicines. Based on its extensive experience in the development of biopharmaceutical drugs, the company is also working on the development of a COVID-19 fusion protein.

To strengthen our team in Martinsried near Munich, we are looking for suitable candidates for this full-time and permanent position, to begin work as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities

The position holder will secure freedom-to-operate and generate protection for the development pipeline, especially of Biosimilars, through support of the development teams in FTO/design-around-activities, in prosecution and by filing and proceeding the company’s own IP. This includes the following tasks:
  • Identifying inventions and securing valid patent protection world-wide
  • Draft, file and prosecute patent applications and maintain and defend patent rights
  • Directing and advising on patent and related IP issues
  • Guiding the formulation of patent strategies in development projects and providing patent situations
  • Provide regular overviews on FTO-landscape and recommendation for consecutive actions
  • Securing freedom from blocking 3rd party patent rights by elaborating and executing proper IP actions
  • Give necessary and timely professional IP input for, and maintain full accountability to R&D / Licensing / M&A / Markets / Litigation activities
  • Managing patents (incl. related IP aspects) for collaborative research and development activities

Your qualifications

  • Degree in science, biotechnology or biochemistry preferred
  • Qualification as patent attorney
  • 3-5 years of experience as a patent attorney in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the biosimilar field
  • Broad knowledge across proceeding patent applications, FTO-activities and litigation in main geographic regions
  • Fluent in English, German is desired
  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation and organizational skills with hands-on mentality
  • Experience in basic software (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • German work permit is mandatory
